2002 Chevy Cavalier has no injector pulse .The car had a dead battery, i replaced the battery and discovered the pcm was dead, (no fuel pump, no gas gauge, etc.) Replaced the pcm, car turns over, all indications are normal and there is spark but car won't start. There is no injector pulse. What could be the cause.
Answer: Assuming the PCM was programmed to your car, after replacement, the theft deterrent will need to be learned. This could be the reason for no pulse. Do this procedure.....
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON. The vehicle will not start.
Observe the SECURITY telltale, after approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn OFF.
Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock™ Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.
Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.
If this does not work, you need to check for power to the injectors. Either the gray wires, or pink wires on each inj. Power is supplied by F/P - INJ fuse in the dash fuse block. The PCM supplies the ground.
Brakes Shaking And Vibrating
Brakes problem with my 96 Chevy Cavalier.
When I brake there is aloud shaking vibrating noise on the passenger side of the front side of the car.
Answer:Most shaking like this is caused by a warped or rusted up brake rotor. It may be extremely rusted on the inboard side. You may have a caliper stuck causing the rotor to get too hot an warp. You may also have a loose suspension component.
Jump Start Not Working
1996 Chevy Cavalier 4 cylinder. Question: My car went dead and the battery light come on and the steering wheel was hard to turn..i tried to jump start it and it didn't work!what could be the problem?i fixed the gas pump once and fixed one of the tensioners.
Answer: Anytime a car engine dies out, the belt that powers the alternator and power steering pump stops turning, since it is powered by the engine. (that is on a vehicle that does not have electric power steering). When the alternator stops, the battery is no longer being charged, so the light will come on. When the power steering pump stops turning, you will loose power steering assist. These things are all a common result of an engine that has stalled. If your car will not crank, then this is a battery or alternator problem. If the engine does crank, but will not start, then you need to find out what is missing- No spark to the spark plugs, low / no fuel pressure, no electric pulse to the fuel injectors to power them, etc. Since it stalled while driving, does not sound like a battery problem. If it stalled and would not crank, then have the alternator checked. If the car died out and WILL crank, you may have a bad fuel pump.
