2000 Oldsmobile Alero Stalls When Slowing or Stopped

2000 Oldsmobile Alero. Engine Size : 2.4

Question: I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. The problem is that the car runs , but when i make a stop at a red light or at a stop sign the car turns off and I have to turn it back on, this happens every time I make a stop, it doesn't stall when the car is running only when I make a stop.

Answer: First thing you need to do is get a scan of the computer codes to see if there are any stored. This may give an indication as to where the problem is. Most of the large national parts store chains will do this for free. There are several things that can cause the problem with your Oldsmobile. You could have a fuel pressure problem caused by a plugged fuel filter or failing pump, a vacuum leak that will cause the engine to run very lean at idle, a leaking fuel pressure regulator (FPR) that causes a very rich condition, a common wiring problem where there are few ground wires that break down near the starter, or the throttle and idle air control (IAC) valve are full of carbon.
