Dodge Caravan 1993 can't loosen tensioner.

Question: Got diagram, of no help, can not release tensioner. Video?someone else said there was a place on back of tensioner, do not see one..seems like its stuck? Do I have to take off idler as well? help.

Answer: Make sure you are looking at the correct part. The tensioner and idler pulley have similar pulleys. The belt tensioner is below the alternator. You need to get a wrench on the center bolt and rotate it clockwise to release the tension, then remove the belt. If it does not move, then it may be froze and needs to be replaced. This could also be the reason the belt went bad, unless it was just from normal wear.
