2007 Dodge Caliber Lighting Bolt Warning Light

2007 Dodge Caliber
Engine size: 4 cyl
Warning lights: lightning bolt?
Question: Lightning bolt light came on care will not start or take a battery jump.

Answer: This light should not cause the engine to not crank over like a dead battery. But it can cause it to crank over but not start. This light informs you of a problem with the Electronic Throttle Control system. If a problem is detected the light will come on while the engine is running. Cycle the ignition key when the vehicle is completely stopped and the gear selector is in the PARK position.

The light should turn off. If the light remains lit with the engine running your vehicle will usually be driveable, however, see your dealer for service as soon as possible or go to Autozone and have them read the codes for you for free. If the light is flashing when the engine is running, immediate service is required and you may experience reduced performance, an elevated/rough idle or engine stall and your vehicle may require towing. The light will come on when the ignition is first turned on and remain on briefly as a bulb check.

Cost To Fix Light

Lightning bolt warning light came on what is the cost to fix problem?

Answer: that depends on exactly what is wrong with it. If the throttle body is faulty, it can cost upwards of %600 to fix. If just a wiring problem, carbon on the throttle or just needs a reset, it could be only 1 hr. labor at a local repair shop.

I have a 2010 dodge caliber and It's been cold lately, and it was -23 one night, the following morning I was late getting up for work... so I turned my car on and left right away without letting it warm up, (which I know I shouldn't have) but the lighting bolt light came on with the engine light as well, I then back up and drove into the drivway, I then turned it off and then back in, it started ok and sounded ok, the lighting bolt light was off, but the engine light was still on, so I drove it to work after I let it warm up more. At lunch time about 5 hours later I went out to lunch and the engine light was off, the car drive fine and there seems to be no signs of trouble, except when I turn I hear a little scrapping but I think it's just snow around the tire or really close to the tires, I looked under car and saw nothing dragging.. anyways my question is, with the light bolt light coming on and then going off should I bring it in to get it checked or not?

Yes, get it checked out before it becomes a bigger problem like your car won't start or dies out.

Replaced throttle body and left it to idle for the fifteen minutes, but the car died after about ten minutes. Drove it home about five miles the idle was high. Next morning the lightning bolt came on again. And continues to do so Everytime it is started.
