MY 1992 FORD CROWN VIC STARTS FINE AND ALL THE FLUIDS ARE WHERE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BE BUT WHEN I SHIFT THE CAR INTO ANY GEAR THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE. I HAVE TO CUT THE CAR OFF & REPEAT MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT FINALLY ALLOWS ME TO ACCELERATE. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY CAR???? THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Answer: Since your car is older, there are no electrical components called "shift solenoid". On cars that do have these, this problem you are having can be related to that. So, if the fluid level is fine, i can only think that there is a problem in the valve body of the transmission. Specifically the "manual valve".
the valve body has many valves in it that direct fluid pressure to the proper circuits to activate clutches and other items. If one of them is sticking, hydraulic fluid pressure will not activate the proper components.
I would suggest going to the local parts store and buy a bottle of transmission additive. Put that in the transmission, drive it for a while as the instruction on the bottle say, then take it to a local shop and have them do a fluid exchange and filter change. The additive can help remove deposits and varnish and free up sticking valves.
Push Button Start
How do you install a relay for a push button start.
Answer: If you are installing an aftermarket pushbutton start kit from a parts store to install on a car that does not have one already, then there are instructions on how to do that in the box of the part. if you are trying to do this on your own without an actual part you purchased, then you will need to get a schematic of the ignition / start circuits of your vehicle.
If you just need to replace a relay that already exists on your vehicle but has failed, you need to locate it. That is different for every make and model. You would need a schematic of the system to find the relay location.
Ford Transmission Stuck In Gear
Question: 2001 Ford Escort ZX2, 5spd man. trans; Stuck in gear, not the shifter but just the trans. It will shift Fine with clutch depressed (all gears&rev.)In neutral- let the clutch out and it bogs down to stalling.
With front end raised off ground, it registers 20mph@1,000rpm (idle). 3rd gear+-. I put it in reverse it stalls out when letting off clutch. I replaced clutch, pressure plate, pilot and throwout bearings, bushings in linkage, slave cyl. (could not locate clutch master cylinder locally).
Also we replaced weak trans mount nearest firewall, all to no avail. Any help is appreciated.
Answer: Sounds like you have an internal problem of a gear staying meshed. The transmission is binding up, that is why it is stalling in neutral. You need to remove the transmission and check all the gears and synchros.
Ford mustang dashboard lights won't work
Answer: If you mean the backlighting of the dash and not the warning indicator lights like the check engine or oil light, then the first thing to do is check all of the fuses. Use a test light to do that. Replace any that are blown. If they are all good, then next thing to do is move the dimmer switch or knob around to see if the lights come on or start to flicker. The dimmer is just a resistor to control the amount of voltage going to the dash lights. They get corroded inside and cause your problem.
If they do start to flicker or go on and off, then you need to replace the switch.
