2000 Silverado Stalls After 10 Seconds | Fuel Passlock Theft

2000 Chevy 1500 Silverado 5.3L V-8 Vortec. Changed the fuel filter. The truck will start. Runs good for 10 seconds, then stalls. Initially when the truck stalled it wouldn't even start at all. I towed it home

, changed the fuel filter and it would then start and run. But only for 10 seconds then die. Any help you could offer in the general direction of where to start would be appreciated.

This does sound like fuel pressure problem. Replacing the filter seemed to help. That may have helped a weak or binding pump build some pressure.Best way to tell is to put a fuel gauge on it and check pressure. You can also have someone bang on the bottom center of the fuel tank when starting. Sometimes this will cause a bad fuel pump to keep it running or try to stay running, until you stop banging on it. Also spraying carb cleaner in the throttle to keep it running would indicate a bad pump. The pump may also have burned connectors on top of the fuel tank pump / module assembly. This would cause low current to the pump, inturn cause it to stop running or produce low pressure. Usually the connectors get burned because of a bad pump anyway.

Chevy Silverado Security Light

Repairs for this problem = replaced ignition switch.
Question: after my uncle and aunt got into a fight the keys got ripped out of the ignition with the key in the on position when the vehicle was restarted and shut back off the key would no longer work, so I replaced the ignition switch now everything works except the truck will not stay running how do i reset the Passlock or security code?

Answer: 1.Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2.Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON, vehicle will not start.
3.Observe the SECURITY telltale. After approximately 10 minutes, the telltale will turn OFF.
4.Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 two more times for a total of 3 cycles/30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK.
Important: The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle.
Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password.
With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles.

Chevy 1500 Fuel Pressure Regulator Location

1996 Chevy 1500. Replace fuel line, fuel filter, spark plugs, and distributor cap & rotor.
Where do I find the fuel pressure regulator. The truck is getting fire but acts like it isn't getting fuel.

Answer; The fuel pressure regulator is located under the upper intake, on the injector assembly. But this would not cause low or no fuel pressure. If it were the cause, then you would have a strong gas smell under the hood, and the engine oil would be full of fuel. Sounds like a pump problem. You would need to test fuel pressure to confirm engine is not getting gas.
